ONSITE INFLUENZA VACCINE CLINIC INFORMATION

Mark your calendar for our onsite Flu Shot Clinic on Wednesday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to noon. The vaccine is voluntary. There is no cost to the employee if you provide your medical insurance card and your picture ID (driver's license.)  Consent and patient forms are to be completed before taking your vaccine are available in HR.  Please complete all paperwork prior to getting your vaccine.

Vaccines will be provided in the Training/Conference Room.  Consider wearing short sleeves or clothing in which you can easily expose your shoulder.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), flu vaccination has important benefits.  It can reduce flu illness, doctor's visits, and missed work and school due to the flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations and deaths.

CDC's INFLUENZA PREVENTION STEPS

  • Take everyday preventative actions that are recommended to reduce the spread of the flu.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • If you are sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.  Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.  Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water.  If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.  Germs spread this way.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with viruses that cause flu.
  • For flu, CDC recommends that people stay home for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone except to get medical care or other necessities.  Fever should be gone with the need to use a fever-reducing medicine.

Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches, chills, and fatigue. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea.  People may be infected with flu and have respiratory symptoms without a fever. Visit CDC's website to find out what to do if you get sick with flu.
