What You Should Know About the Coronavirus

The health and safety of PhotoBiz employees and customers are primary concerns at PhotoBiz.  As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread in communities in the U.S., we are taking the necessary precautions to ensure your safety.   There are several hand sanitizer stations throughout the office and disinfectant wipes are available to wipe down phones, work stations, etc.

How the coronavirus spreads:
  • Person-to-person: between people who are in close contact with one another and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
  • Contact with infected surfaces or objects: It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or objects that have the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes.  This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

As with the seasonal flu and coronavirus (COVID-19), the CDC recommends the following to prevent the spread of any respiratory disease:
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. (Sing the Happy Birthday song twice and use warm water.)
  • If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.  Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home from school or work when you are sick or have a fever.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

The US Surgeon General wants Americans to stop buying face masks.  They are not effective in preventing the general public from catching the virus.  The limited supply of masks makes it difficult for healthcare providers to care for sick patients.  Those healthcare providers are at greater risk of contracting the virus and puts our communities at risk as well.
